VanReceipts Privacy Policy

VanReceipts ("the app", "we", "us") helps tradespeople turn receipts into a running profit-and-loss picture. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: we do not track you, and we do not sell your data.

Data stored on your device

Receipts, expenses, projects, clients, logged time, and your settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database. Receipt text may also be read using Apple's on-device text recognition. None of this local data is sent to us except as described below for cloud itemization and optional feedback.

iCloud sync (optional)

If you enable iCloud sync (a paid feature), your data is synced through your own private iCloud account using Apple CloudKit. It is stored in your personal iCloud container, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot read the contents of your iCloud data.

Cloud itemization

Free includes cloud AI itemization for up to 10 receipt images per calendar month. When you scan while your monthly allowance remains, the receipt image may be sent for cloud processing. Pro includes unlimited cloud AI itemization as an always-on part of the service. When cloud itemization is used:

• The receipt image and recognized text are sent over an encrypted connection to our processing service, which uses AI providers (OpenAI, with Google Gemini as a backup if OpenAI is unavailable) solely to extract line items for you to review and confirm before save. This processing is necessary to provide cloud itemization. This data is not used to train third-party models and is not linked to your name or account.
• Requests are authenticated using Apple App Attest, which confirms the request comes from a genuine copy of the app. App Attest does not identify you personally.
• If you choose to submit a correction ("feedback"), the receipt image and your corrected values are stored by us only to improve extraction accuracy. This is optional and separate from normal scanning.

Device permissions

• Camera / Photos: used to capture or import a receipt. Scanned images may be sent for cloud itemization as described above.
• Location (optional): checked only at the moment you scan, to match a receipt to the job site you are working at. It is not tracked in the background and not shared.
• Calendar / Contacts (optional): read on your device to match receipts to jobs and to add clients quickly. This information is not uploaded to us.

Payments

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store and managed by RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider. We do not receive or store your payment card details. RevenueCat receives a purchase identifier to manage your subscription status. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

What we do not do

• We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not sell or rent your personal data.

Data retention and deletion

On-device data is removed when you delete the app. iCloud data is removed through your iCloud settings. To request deletion of any optional feedback data you submitted, contact us at the address below.

Children

VanReceipts is intended for business use by adults and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
