A roofing quote for a repair
A roofing quote template is a fixed price for the roof work named on the sheet, sent before the work. The one loaded above is a repair. Before tax it is $535: three pipe boots at $85 are $255, 8 ft of step flashing is $160, and 10 ft of ridge cap is $120.
This is the sheet for a roof repair quote. There is no decking allowance. The deck is not opened except at the boots. A second layer found under the shingles is outside the $535. There is no deposit. The date on the sheet is the date this price ends. The dollar amounts are round samples so the addition can be checked. They are not a price for the work.
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Pipe boots, 3 at $85 | $255 |
| Step flashing, 8 ft | $160 |
| Ridge cap, 10 ft | $120 |
| Quote before tax | $535 |
Acceptance is the signature line, or a written reply that names this quote. After the date on the sheet, $535 is no longer the offer. A 28-square roof with an allowance of 3 sheets of decking, then $85 a sheet, is the roofing estimate template.
An 18-square re-roof, with the deck walked
The re-roof button is $8,160 before tax. Tear off one layer is $1,200. Synthetic underlayment is $400. Ice barrier at the eaves is $280. Starter and field shingles, 18 squares at $300, are $5,400. Hip and ridge is $320. Four pipe boots at $85 are $340. Drip edge is $220. Those lines add to $8,160.
Decking is outside that price because this sample says the deck was walked and is sound. A soft deck is a different quote. A fixed 24-square roof, with decking excluded in one sentence, is the construction quote template.
The ice-barrier line stays on this sample, and it is deleted where the local table does not require it. Indiana Department of Homeland Security says the 2020 Indiana Residential Code (675 IAC 14-4.4) adopts and amends the 2018 International Residential Code (IRC). As of December 26, 2019, that code regulates residential construction in Indiana (read October 15, 2026).
Indiana quotes IRC section R905.1.2. Where there is a history of ice forming along the eaves and causing a backup of water, as designated in Table R301.2(1), an ice barrier is installed from the lowest edges of all roof surfaces to a point not less than 24 inches inside the exterior wall line.
On a slope of 8 in 12 or steeper, the same section also applies the ice barrier not less than 36 inches along the roof slope from the eave edge. Detached accessory structures that contain no conditioned floor area are excepted. Indiana's amended table names counties where the shield is always required. In other counties, Indiana says it is required when the manufacturer's instructions require it.
Indiana quotes IRC section R905.2.8.5 for shingle roofs: a drip edge is provided at the eaves and at the rake edges. This sample includes that line.
ARMA describes an ice-dam layer where there has been a history of ice forming along the eaves, and says to apply it per the manufacturer's instructions and the local building code (read October 15, 2026). ARMA recommends extending a self-adhering sheet a minimum of 24 inches inside the interior wall line. That interior-wall measure is ARMA's recommendation. Indiana's quoted code text measures to the exterior wall line.
A flat coating, and one skylight
The coating button is $1,800 for acrylic roof coating on 12 squares. Ponding areas are outside that price. This is not a shingle job. No code section is cited for it.
The skylight button is $1,080: a curb-mounted skylight in the existing opening $900, and a flashing kit $180. Interior drywall and a new opening are outside that price. No code section is cited for it. The squares after the work are billed on the roofing invoice template. Published repair ranges are on the roof repair cost calculator.
Where a home-improvement deposit rule applies
None of these sheets takes a deposit. Where the work is a home improvement, California's writing rule and down payment cap are on the construction quote template. Other states write their own rules. This page is not legal advice. More forms are on the templates page.

Questions roofers ask
What is a roofing quote template?+
A roofing quote template is a fixed price for the roof work named on the sheet, with a date the offer ends and a line for the client to accept it. The repair on this page is $535 before tax. There is no decking allowance. The dollars are samples so the math can be checked, not a price for the work.
What should a roof repair quote include?+
The pieces being replaced, whether the deck is opened, what a second layer of shingles does to the price, the date the offer ends, and a place for acceptance. This repair opens the deck only at the boots, and it has no deposit.
When does a shingle quote need an ice barrier?+
Indiana's Department of Homeland Security, quoting the 2020 Indiana Residential Code and the 2018 International Residential Code (IRC) section R905.1.2, says an ice barrier is required where Table R301.2(1) shows a history of ice forming along the eaves. On a slope of 8 in 12 or steeper, that section also calls for 36 inches along the slope from the eave. Delete the line where the local table does not require it. This is not legal advice.
Can I download a roofing quote template as Word or Excel?+
Yes. The quote you fill in downloads as a PDF in three designs, and as a Word file and an Excel file.
