Price the punch list, not the day
A per-task estimate lets the client cut items to fit a budget without asking you to redo the whole price. It also shows you, job after job, which tasks you are underpricing. If grab bars always take twice as long as you quoted, the line tells you.
The two lines that prevent arguments
- A materials allowance, with what happens above it (billed at cost with receipts).
- A rate for extra tasks. There is always one more thing once you are there. Agreeing the rate on the estimate means you can just do it.
Questions handymen ask
How do I write a handyman estimate quickly?
Keep a price for your common tasks and build each estimate from that list. VanReceipts can draft the lines from a photo or a voice note describing the job, and you check each one before it goes out.
Should a handyman estimate include materials?
Yes, either priced or as an allowance. Leaving them out makes the price look lower than the real bill.
